Wireless Logic Group, a leading provider of IoT cellular connectivity platform solutions announced today the appointment of Sir Michael Rake as Chairman, effective on 1 June 2019.
Sir Michael Rake is also Chairman of Great Ormond Street Hospital, Phoenix Global Resources, Majid AL Futtaim Holdings LLC, Newday Ltd and a Director of S&P Global. Former board roles include being Chairman of Worldpay Group Plc, BT Group Plc, KPMG (UK and International), easyJet and President of the Confederation of British Industry, Deputy Chairman of Barclays and director of the Financial Reporting Council. Sir Michael’s current business advisory roles include Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce UK, Chairman of the Advisory Board for Engie UK, Advisor to Teneo Holdings and Senior Adviser for Chatham House and a member of the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation Global Advisory Board.
Sir Michael joins Wireless Logic as the organisation continues on its rapid growth both organically and through a series of acquisitions. In June 2018, Montagu Private Equity invested into the group for an undisclosed sum following the exit of CVC Capital Partners. Over the last three years, the group has made five acquisitions in Denmark, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, all of which have significantly expanded the group’s geographic reach and technological capabilities. The period ahead will see further investment in its platform solutions and network services, with emphasis on the organisation’s ‘Intelligent’ branded multi-network eSIM provision and a range of user-focused solutions to encourage and drive self-service device connectivity.
Oliver Tucker, co-founder and CEO of Wireless Logic Group said: “We are delighted to welcome Sir Michael onto the Wireless Logic board. He joins us as we enter another period of sustained expansion, capitalising on the inherent strengths and diversity of our connectivity solutions and expert teams. Importantly, our growth continues to outpace what is considered a fast-moving market where new applications are being introduced frequently into the world of IoT.
“Sir Michael’s unrivalled track record will bring added strength to our financial, governance and strategic objectives and we look forward to his guidance and stewardship in the months ahead.”
Ed Shuckburgh, Director, Montagu Private Equity LLP said: “Sir Michael will complement a board which is driven, focused and successful. We will welcome his counsel and leadership to support our ambitious growth plans.”
Sir Michael Rake said: “The Internet of Things now permeates into just about every facet of life with Wireless Logic strategically at its core enabling a myriad of applications to connect and perform. I am very excited to chair an organisation that has clearly achieved so much in a relatively short period. I look forward to working with Oliver and his team as the organisation continues on its impressive growth trajectory.”
